Wild Red-crowned Crane Protective Area

The wild red-crowned crane protective area in Sheyang, Yancheng is the largest wetland protective area along the coast of our country. It is a good place for red-crowned crane to live through winter. It is located in the middle of Jiangsu seaside, governing shoals of Dongtai, Dafeng, Sheyang, Binhai and Xiangshui. It has a coastline of 587 km, and an area of 45,3000 hectares. The central area is between Doulong and Xinyang ports and covers an area of 174,000 hectares. The area has a smooth physiognomy, gentle weather, long non-frost period, rich rainfall and sunshine. There are abundant living species in the area. There are 450 kinds of plants, 379 kinds of avifauna, 45 kinds of crawling animals, 281 kinds of fish, and 47 kinds of mammalia creatures. Among them red-crowned crane, white-head crane, white crane, white marabou, black marabou, Chinese sheldrake, left behind gull, bustard, golden vulture, white shoulder vulture, ern, and paddlefish are 12 grade one protective animals of our government. The wild elk protective area in Dafeng, Yancheng covers an area of 40,000 mu, is the largest wild elk freely living area in the world. Elk is rare in the world just like panda.
